Iris announce the launch of the IRIS130, a new long range night vision Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera

Iris Innovations Limited of Southampton, UK, the global forerunners in marine camera systems are delighted to announce the launch of their latest fully functional marine grade Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera. 

Designed with 2nd generation high power infra red led illumination, the IRIS130 operates in zero lighting conditions with an effective range of 120 meters. 

The camera also has other high end features such as a choice of optical zoom lenses, zooming to either 28X or 36X and on-board Digital Image Stabilization (DIS). 

Designed equally for high end pleasure and commercial marine applications, the IRIS130 is manufactured to a very high standard from powder-coated aluminum and comes loaded with an internal widow de-icer and hidden wiper, assisting the camera to work in the harshest of conditions.

Iris are already shipping units and with an aggressive price of $3,775.00, this should prove to be an interesting alternative for those wanting conventional video pictures in an environment where previously only thermal pictures would prevail.

This year, the Iris stand was particularly busy with Center stage being occupied by our highly desirable new IM-PTZ-16t Thermal Imaging PTZ Camera Family.

High sensitivity 25Hz images were displayed on a 50 inch LCD and attracted large crowds of admirers. 

Other new products from Iris included the IM-PTZ-16 marine PTZ camera, with its 26 times optical zoom visitors were able to zoom in on stands at the other end of the exhibition hall.

Other notable additions to the Iris portfolio included our Limited Edition range of finishes to our static cameras, and also an all new Scubar Camera designed to be used at greater underwater depths and in more extreme environments.

Of course, the main benefit of such an international exhibition is the opportunity to catch up with colleagues and business partners from across the globe, and to appoint new product distributors into foreign territories.

Designed especially to control the amazing NEW IM-PTZ-16 Micro PTZ Camera, but also compatible with all major PTZ models, the KBD-16 is a solid, custom build controller measuring 4" square and finished with a supremely stylish Carbon Fibre bezel.

The 3D joystick controller allows full proportional pan tilt and zoom control and features a fantastically simple plug and play installation. The joystick controller is water resistant making it ideal for use from an external helm position.

The camera is small enough to grip with one hand and can be flush or panel mounted. On Board control is via a small joystick and keypad and remote control of the camera is available via an internet or wireless connection. The PTZ-16 really is a fantastically compact and powerful product.

Rib owner, and all round marvellous fellow, Dave Freeman from Aztec Marine in Hamble, couldn't take his hands off of the controller and immediately recognised the potential of the product on motor boats and sail boats of practically any size.

In the immediate aftermath of the horrific earthquake that reaped havoc and horrendous destruction to the Caribbean island of Haiti, scores of teams from all over the globe rushed to offer assistance with specialist equipment and personnel. 

One team from the UK, the world renowned International Rescue Corp. based in Glasgow Scotland,  were quickly mustered and on their way, prepared to do what ever they could in an effort to uncover any possible survivors within the carnage of the devastating earthquake.

A vital tool that International Rescue always carry on every mission is a Scubar Portable Inspection System, its portability and ease of use often enable IRC to peer into voids that they just cannot reach in the heart of collapsed buildings or craters. 

IRC press officer Julie Ryan commented " Scubar is a very practical camera system which is both simple to operate in high pressure situations and is also versatile as it is equally at home in water rescue scenarios as well as USAR(Urban search and rescue)."

The order was placed in October 2009 and handed over during an on site training course held by Iris "in situ" in January 2010.

The craft were all built in the UK by BAE Systems and are integral in the drive to control piracy in that part of the Caribbean Ocean and at the same time re establish the Trinidadians as a proper "Blue Water" Navy again.

The Scubar Inspection Systems are a valuable tool in the fight against smuggling and as Chief Petty Officer Cleveland Phillip for the T & T Coast Guard quoted 

"These new fast patrol boats are part of an integrated effort on behalf of the T&T Coast Guard service to reduce piracy in our territorial waters, Scubar will be a vital tool in combatting this threat to sailers and merchant ships by enabling boarding parties to search any suspicious looking craft quickly and effortlessly."

Six Scubar-Pro systems are now commissioned and in full service on these fine new ships.

This new camera has come about after literally years of nagging from Iris's global distributors, who all relaid the same repeated message about the massive opportunity there is for a "cool" PTZ camera which ticks all the boxes in terms of aesthetics and performance equally.
